William "Bill" Evans

William (Bill) D. Evans, age 85 of Powell, Ohio, died on August 27, 2026 in the presence of his wife and daughter. Bill was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin to William U. and Wanda M. (Schultz) Evans. Bill graduated from Viroqua High School in 1960. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army. Bill served in South Korea in the early 1960s and was awarded an expert rifleman badge.
In 1963, Bill married Betty R. Schenck. Bill and Betty shared sixty-three years of life together, living in Washington, D.C. area, subsequently moving to Madison, Wisconsin, and then Powell, Ohio.
Bill held a variety of positions, including working as a truck driver; forklift operator; and a short order cook at Cleveland’s Lunch in Madison, Wisconsin. Bill retired as a school bus driver in Madison, Wisconsin.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Bill was devoted to his grandson, Seth Grayson. Bill was a man of faith, who took comfort in his Bible study group and other Christian communities he participated in over the course of his days. Bill enjoyed playing cards, hunting, watching football, and spending time with his friends. During his active days, Bill was a regular morning visitor to the Liberty Township/Powell YMCA.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Michelle Evans of Powell, Ohio; grandson Seth of Powell, Ohio; sister Toni Oium and brother-in-law David Oium of Cashton, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Evans.
No service will be conducted. Burial will be at Kingwood Memorial Park at a later date.
